Bahman Dadkha

Bahman Dadhkah is an artist, painter and sculptor who was born in Iran in 1941. He held his first exhibition, in Teheran, at the age of 18. He exhibits his work regularly, and has received numerous international awards.

Bahman Dadhkah has lived and worked in France since 1984. Inspired by plants, animals and motifs from antiquity, each bronze expresses, with distincion, the energy of a branch, the suppleness of a leaf, or the tautness of a ligament without forcing the line or leaning too hard on the chisel. There is a real sense of the intelligent hand that shapes a sculpture, a total understanding of the nature of the subject that inspires him.

Like the sculptor, bronze has its own demands and rhythm. Each piece is cast for the occasion, after which the artist adds the patina. Light caresses every feature. Our eyes are mesmerized by the subtle and delicate nature of the lines, and our hands are drawn in by the sensuality of the objects.

Bahman Dadhkah will be guest of honour in June 2007 in an exhibition dedicated to his work, as part of a series of events organised by le carré des antiquaires.
